I’ve seen a popular quote floating around recently about gardens and butterflies that really resonated with me:
‘Don’t waste your time chasing butterflies. Mend your garden, and the butterflies will come.‘
This quote, often attributed to Mario Quintana, suggests that focusing on creating a nurturing environment (the garden) will naturally attract what you desire (the butterflies). I love the self-evident wisdom in this quote, and I’ve tried my best to live accordingly. We all chase butterflies [which I interpret as fleeting pleasures, temporary happiness or distractions] from time to time, but what I’ve found has given me the most fulfillment in my own life was mending the garden [doing good work, focusing on things within my control, investing in myself].
Are you investing most of your time chasing or mending?
